Sweet after school treat!

Its back to school time, that means lots of schedules to keep straight! But there are always a few minutes when the peanuts come home from school to relax and hear all about their fun day and what new and exciting things they learned. And what's better than a sweet conversation accompanied by a little treat!?!
Although, granola bars are great there is a lot of 'junk' in them that we don't need out kids eating and homemade cereal or granola bars are a cinch to make! These little homemade cereal bars are the perfect after school {or lunch box} snack and are cute as can be when they are wrapped up like a piece of candy and of course personalized with your child's name!

{This recipe is adapted and changed slightly from Martha Stewart's chocolate-peanut butter cereal bars}

Cooking spray
8 cups chocolate crisp puffed-rice cereal
1/2 stick unsalted butter
10 ounces miniature marshmallows (4 3/4 cups)
3/4 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup fine colored sprinkles plus a few more for the top
{we added 1T of flax meal for fiber, you can add oats to make it more of a granola bar as well. Just take out about 1 cup of cereal and add 1/2 cup of rolled oats}

Coat a 9-inch square baking pan with cooking spray and line with parchment. Lightly spray parchment. Place cereal in a large bowl. In a large pot, melt butter over medium. Add marshmallows, peanut butter and salt and cook, stirring, until mixture is melted, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir into cereal until combined. Let mixture cool slightly, 4 minutes (mixture should still be pliable), then stir in chocolate chips and sprinkles. With a spatula (or your fingers) lightly coated with cooking spray, press into pan. Sprinkle top with a few more sprinkles. Let stand at room temperature until set, about 20 minutes. Using parchment, lift from pan and cut into 12 bars.

After they are cut you can wrap each one individually with wax paper and tie the ends with ribbon to create a candy look. You can also use our sweet glittery tags to personalize them! What kid would not love to open their lunch box to find one of these in there!

silver.black.&.white wedding

Over the summer, Kellie's little sister married her sweetheart! They are very young and hopelessly in love! They are both such sweet souls and Kellie and I had the best time helping with their wedding! Let me tell you, Kellie is one organized momma and impressed me so much with her wedding planning skills! The color scheme of the wedding was perfect for their young age, black, white and silver! We had a great time making all the sweets and setting up their dessert table for their small, intimate reception. I also had the honor of photographing their wedding! Audrey and Allen were so playful and easy going, they were so much fun to work with! We wanted to give you a little peek into their wedding and how we were able to help them on a small budget!

With Audrey and Allen being only 20 we wanted to give them something a little sparkly, sassy and playful but still pretty enough for their wedding. We also wanted to make sure it complimented their style. So we started with a silver, glittery backdrop...which was a large sheet of paper that we found at the Paper Source, and across that we strung vintage French doilies. All silver and mercury glass pedestals were used to display the desserts. We made a little ruffle cake with a festive A&A cake topper and strung a 'Audrey and Allen' letter garland across the front of the table.

We also created a 'cards' mini letter garland and placed inside of a vintage suitcase that Kellie found. This worked out perfectly, because all of the cards were securely inside and we were also able to pack up all of their other paper goods inside the suitcase for them to take home as keepsakes.

A wishing tree was set up as well. Were guests could write sweet messages to the new bride and groom. The cards were then hung on the tree for Audrey and Allen to read and enjoy after the wedding.

And of course a little candy station was set up for guests to bring home some sweets!

This was my favorite portrait of the bride, Audrey. She is such a sweet girl! We just loved the rustic, little white chapel they got married in! It made for a great backdrop for some of their photos!

Happy First Birthday Frosted Photo Garlands

We always get excited when we receive a frosted photo garland order! We especially love when mommas use them for their babies first birthday parties. These garlands are so much fun to create! First of all we love seeing all of these sweet babies and we also love helping make something so special for such a special day! Our garlands are quite sturdy so they are perfect to hang in a babies nursery after the party, they can also be created in any color combination to match any party or nursery theme. We are thrilled that one of our  very sweet customers let us photograph and share her babies garland with you before we shipped it off to her. This little sweetie pie is just adorable and we had the best time making this garland and all of her other paper party goods for her upcoming first birthday party! Her color scheme was light pink, dark pink and orange!
These are now available in our shop here! Happy Monday!

DIY monster candy holder

So, after seeing our monster mash collection, our amazingly talented friend and diy corespondent, Katie, came up with this adorable monster candy holders to coordinate with our paper party goods! We of course, fell in love immediately! This Mr. and Mrs. monster are too cute just to look at, but to make them even sweeter when you flip their little heads back they are filled with treats! How much fun would these be as party favors at your next monster party! You can even personalize them for each child at your party with our custom cupcake toppers, that double as monster lollipops!

Materials:
Hot glue gun/glue
Scissors
Pipe cleaner
Scrap of ribbon
Empty toilet paper roll
Bottom half of plastic Easter egg
Card stock
Fringe Leis (about 1 and 1/2 per monster) I found them at a local party supply store, but you may also find them at craft stores or online if you wanted to buy them in bulk
Large google eye
Black card stock or construction paper
Ribbon of choice or other decorations

Cut off about 1/3 of toilet paper roll and use the larger piece for the monster's body. Cut out a circle just a bit wider than the bottom of the toilet paper roll (about 2 inches). Apply glue to the edges of the toilet paper roll and stick it to the middle of your circle. Hot glue half of your ribbon scrap to the bottom of the Easter egg, leaving half hanging off of the bottom for now.

Cut your lei so you have one long strip and tie the cut ends in a knot to prevent it from unraveling. Glue one end to the top of the egg and wrap it around, gluing as you go until you reach the bottom edge. Glue the other end of the ribbon piece to the toilet paper roll, leaving a little space so it opens and closes easily.
Starting at the bottom of the toilet paper roll, alternately apply glue and wrap the lei around as you go until you reach the top. Don't wrap too tightly to make sure your monster is extra furry :) Be sure to secure the end with an extra dot of glue.

Now make your monster's arm. Cut a little less than half of the pipe cleaner, depending on how long you want the monster's arm. You want to have plenty to glue to the back of the monster so it is sturdy enough to hold a little sign or lollipop. Wrap a piece of the lei around the pipe cleaner and bend the end of the pipe cleaner into a small loop just big enough to hold a lollipop stick. Glue the wrapped pipe cleaner to the back and the side of the toilet paper roll to give it a little extra strength.

Glue on the google eye and decorate your monster any way you wish! I added eyelashes to the girl. Just fringe a small rectangle of black paper, glue to the back of the google eye and spread out the lashes.
Fill with your favorite candy! I covered a small lollipop with tissue paper and tied it with ribbon for the monster to hold also or custom name lollipops from Icing Designs!
